Ex-Prem star Mario Lemina’s house burgled with jewellery worth £250,000 stolen

Former Premier League midfielder Mario Lemina has reportedly had his house broken into by burglars who have stolen jewellery worth £250,000 from the property.

L'Equipe report that Lemina's home in Nice was broken into on Sunday evening by a group of three armed robbers at around 9:30pm.

Lemina was not present at the time of the break-in as he is currently on international duty with the Gabon national team, who face Angola in World Cup qualifying on Monday.

Up to 300,000 euros (£255,000) worth of items are believed to have been taken from the property before the perpetrators fled the scene.

After they had left, an employee of the house was able to contact the police, with local law enforcement now investigating the matter.

Lemina joined Ligue 1 side Nice in the summer from Southampton for £5million after spending last season on loan with fellow Premier League side Fulham.

The Gabon international was unable to keep the Cottagers in the top flight and also spent time on loan in Turkey with Galatasaray after joining Southampton from Juventus in 2017 for £15million.

He has so far made seven appearances for Nice this season, missing just one match since joining, and the club currently sit third in the French top flight.

Lemina has won 19 caps for his country and made 74 Premier League appearances for Southampton and Fulham across four seasons, scoring three goals and registering three assists.
