Ex Man City starlet fears he could be blinded after firework exploded in hand
Former Manchester City youngster Omar Elabdellaoui fears he could be partially sighted after a firework exploded in his hands.
The now Galatasaray star was celebrating on New Year's Eve and is thought to be in a critical condition.
The horror incident is believed to have occurred at the player's home with the full extent of the damage not yet known.
Elabdellaoui has damaged his eyes and suffered burns to his face.
His club have released a statement which suggested the injuries were life threatening.
It read: "Our player Omar Elabdellaoui, who was taken to our sponsor hospital Liv Hospital after an unfortunate accident at his home in the evening, was given the first intervention.
"The damage to the eyes of our player who has burns on his face will be understood after further examinations.
"A lot of information will be given about the developments regarding our conscious and life-threatening player."
Galatasaray vice president Abdurrahim Albayrak, coach Fatih Terim and captain Arda Turan are understood to have joined Elabdellaoui in hospital.
The Norwegian is thought to be receiving treatment from specialist doctors as per the latest update from Turkey.
Elabdellaoui joined the Super Lig outfit in the summer having left Greek side Olympiacos.
The 29-year-old came through the ranks at the Etihad despite never making a first team appearance.
He had a loan spell with Hull City in the 2016/17 season when they were relegated under Marco Silva.
Elabdellaoui was a January loan signing and played nine times in all competitions.
