Ex-Liverpool ace earns over treble Bale’s wages in MLS – and he ranks just 23rd
Former Tottenham and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is just the 23rd highest earned in the MLS – with Xherdan Shaqiri on three times his wage.
In a report that was published on Monday via by the MLS players' association, when collectivising 'guaranteed compensation' for the season including any signing and guaranteed bonuses, the Wales international is earning just over £2million per year at Los Angeles FC – while former Liverpool winger Shaqiri, who now features for Chicago Fire, is on a whopping £7million in the American league.
Bale had been earning around £28.8million-a-year with Los Blancos – meaning he’s had to swallow a substantial pay-cut to make the move to the MLS and live in the comforts of LA.

Furthermore, the figure means that there are 22 players earning more than Bale in MLS, who has started just two league games and ten more coming off the bench.
Toronto's Lorenzo Insigne, who is top, is on £12million-per-year while compatriot Federico Bernardeschi, who also plays for the Canadian-based side, is on £5.5million. The Italians are first and fourth respectively among the league's highest earners.

Shaqiri, who has scored seven goals and provided seven assists in his inaugural MLS season, ranks second.
Former Manchester United super-sub Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez is on £6.55million and Gonzalo Higuain, who has just retired from the sport, had a wage of £5.05million.
Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini did not make the top-25 list for highest-earners in the MLS and has a salary at Los Angeles FC of just £899,000, though he has made more appearances so far that his Welsh team-mate.
Elsewhere former Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke is on £3.71million, Tottenham’s former midfielder Victor Wanyama on £2.66million, and former Real Sociedad winger Carlos Vela is on £2.39million. All three made the top 25 as the biggest earners in the division.
