Ex-Chelsea ace Hernan Crespo loved orgies with ‘many women’ at height of career

Footballers are rich, successful, athletic, often very good looking, attractive young men.

It is not surprising that, as young and impressionable young men who often come from poorer backgrounds and are handed thousands of pounds, the adulation of millions around the world, and the freedom to waltz into any illustrious club in the world without any stopping them and asking who they are, they get up to a few things here and there in their time.

There are lots of stories of footballers’ womanising ways, from the days of George Best and Garrincha in the ‘60s, the latter of which fathered 14 children to several women and was renowned for winning World Cups will shacking up with girls, to more recent examples like Cristiano Ronaldo and Antonio Cassano, who infamously conceded in his book that he slept with 600-700 women and believed that sex helped improve his performance on the pitch.

And then there is Hernan Crespo, a strapping Argentinian with flowing locks and deep, brown eyes. It is easy to see why the footballing world, and everyone else, fell in love with him.

Crespo was single for the majority of his career. That explains the story as much as anything. He did not meet his wife until he was 27. That was in 2002.

By that time he had been one of the premier centre-forwards in world football, the most expensive player in the world, although only for 11 days, and was a shining light in the league that everyone’s eyes were intensely focused on, Serie A.

The great Milan teams, Ronaldo, Lazio, the rise of Parma and giant Juventus, the Italian league was the epicentre of the footballing world, and Crespo was the leading man. And boy did he make the most of it.

While on a television show in his native Argentina, a host asked several people if any had had an orgy. Only Crespo stepped forward.

“When I was young I had orgies with many women,” the former Chelsea centre-forward admitted.

Crespo was then pushed on the details, admitting, “Always more women!”

Crespo, though, is now a changed man.

“The truth is that when I first met my wife, I stopped,” Esporte reports Crespo as saying.

“I made my debut in football at the age of 18, I met my wife at 27 and I never showed up with a girlfriend at home until my wife, so I was always single until that age.

"Today I do not miss it and I'm happy with what I have and my family.”

Crespo, then, like many before and since, has made the most of the fame and fanfare that comes with being a professional footballer.

It certainly sounds like he was once a real wildcard, a maverick, a player on the edge, on and off the pitch, though those times are now long in the past.
