Theo Walcott's cheeky taunt aimed at Tottenham fans in Arsenal's 2014 FA Cup win over their North London rivals earned the winger just under £20 pounds in coins.

Walcott wreaked havoc against Spurs in the third clash which Arsenal won 2-0. But his time on the pitch came to an abrupt end when he went down injured in the second half – to the delight of the Spurs faithful.

It soon became clear that the winger couldn't continue and he had to be stretchered off the pitch. And he was subsequently ruled out of action for 11 months when scans revealed he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Before his painful exit from proceedings – Spurs fans had nothing to shout about as their side failed to find a response to the goals scored by Gunners pair Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky. However, Walcott's misery roused the Tottenham fans to their feet as they hurled abuse at the star when he was being carried off the field.

But the jeers from the rival fans prompted Walcott to deliver a jibe of his own in response. As he went down the tunnel to the barrage of abuse, the wing wizard smirked and used his fingers to reflect the score-line.

His actions incensed the away fans at the Emirates who proceeded to pelt Walcott with a slew of coins before he was rushed down the tunnel to safety. However, the Spurs collective's rage meant Walcott left the match with £16.32 in his possession.

And although the coin collection wasn't enough to soothe the pain of his injury, it did allow him to buy some sweets. When explaining how the situation went down, he revealed, via Give Me Sport: "The knee injury was the worst because I didn’t know I did it at the time, that’s why I did the 2-0 sign to the Tottenham fans.

“I got about £16.32 on my stretcher from all the coins they lobbed at me. That’s why I did it. I could’ve gone and bought some sweets, it was that much.”
