Ex-Arsenal ace Samir Nasri ranted ‘you’re here to suck his d***’ in training row

Former Arsenal and Manchester City star Samir Nasri once told former City assistant manager David Platt the reason he believed he was at the club in no uncertain terms during a training ground bust up.

Nasri joined City in 2011 from Arsenal in a £25million deal after spending three years in North London, and he’d go on to lift the Premier League twice during a six-year stay at the club, winning the first title under Roberto Mancini and the second under Manuel Pellegrini.

The versatile playmaker had a calm and composed aura and possessed incredible control on the ball. But his former City team-mate Joleon Lescott is the latest to reveal the France international had a reactionary side to him which saw Nasri launch a hilarious rant at Platt.

Speaking on the Peter Crouch podcast, Lescott said: “He (Mancini) used to do the prep in the middle of the pitch and he’s telling players what he wants, so he’s telling Samir Nasri to do what he wants him to do. Mancini’s lost his head, 'Samir, you’re not doing it, go in!'

“So Samir’s gone in and with no retaliation, so I’m thinking ‘that’s not like Samir’ – Samir has got something in him to retaliate a little bit. Then the manager has come in saying ‘Samir, calm down’, he said: 'No, I’m not calming down, I’m not Mario (Balotelli), you won’t speak to me like that again.'

“And then that’s calming down and then David Platt sees the manager so comes in and says ‘Samir, calm down’. He (Nasri) said: 'Shut up, you’re just here to suck his d***.'"

Platt resigned from his role as assistant manager at the Etihad following the sacking of Mancini at the end of the 2012/13 season despite him being offered to continue at City under new management. The former England international would go on to manage Indian side Pune City and later take up the role of club consultant at Palermo – who are now one of the clubs in the City Group.

After retiring in 2020, Nasri has been no stranger to the headlines after he was previously mocked over gaining a pot belly and allegedly had his phone hacked in a bizarre drip doctors trip where a tweet from his account said: “You also provided me with a full sexual service too right after. So guys make sure you get this service. This w**** comes and f*** the same night.”
