Everton have been branded the "worst dressed team ever" after a snap emerged of Anthony Gordon arriving for pre-season training.

Gordon was snapped arriving in an outfit that has to be seen to be believed, with a jumper that reads 'artist' and some patchwork trousers that make him look like a naked character in the Sims. The youngster also sported a haircut that saw 'Clare Balding' start to trend on Twitter as a result.

And Gordon's outfit is the latest in a line of crimes against fashion that have been committed at Goodison Park. But Gordon's latest felony has led fans to conclude the Toffees are the worst-dressed team ever.

After seeing a collage of Everton players wearing some questionable outfits, one fan tweeted: "What’s going on in that dressing room?"

"What is it with Everton FC and raiding their aunties' wardrobes for thread," a second joked. While a third added: "How is it that no Everton players know how to dress? They always look a state"

However, a fourth fan tweeted: "Don’t half see some mad clobber on the Blues. I’m all for it. Do you 100%. But some strides them Mr Gordon!"

While Gordon's fashion crime is a first, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Tom Davies are the two serial offenders.

Calvert-Lewin recently told the Evening Standard : "It’s no secret the kind of clothes I like to wear and I think the most important thing is just staying authentic to yourself.

"I’m not trying to do it for the purpose of pushing boundaries or whatever. I’m just trying to be myself and then that’s open to interpretation, depending on how people want to take it."

He added: "People like Sammy Davis Jr and Jimi Hendrix, I feel like, in a way, men were more flamboyant then. And it’s like we’ve gone backwards in a sense."

Dele Alli has also drawn criticism for his bold outfit choices, but the earned the all-important seal of approval from Calvert-Lewin.

Dele opted for an outlandish pink number in a recent Instagram post as Calvert-Lewin commented 'CC' in the comments.
