Frank Lampard has explained that he’s “not bothered” at what clothes Dele Alli chooses to wear so long as he delivers on the football pitch following criticism from Glenn Hoddle. Deadline day signings Alli and Donny van de Beek were in attendance at Goodison Park at the weekend for their FA Cup clash against Brentford.
Both were left out of the matchday squad, but the pair were officially unveiled to a packed stadium at the half-time interval.
Everton’s two new signings received a good reception from the home crowd, but Hoddle was not impressed with Alli’s outfit.
Speaking on BT Sport, Hoddle said: “I thought he’d just got dragged off the street to be honest.
“If I’m an Everton fan, you’re going to a new club. Put a tracksuit on at least or something.

“He’s got to get his head together. It’s not about Frank Lampard or Everton, he’s got to get back on the horse he’s good at, scoring goals from midfield.
“If he doesn’t do that, I don’t see anyone getting the best from him.”
Lampard was asked to give his response to those criticisms, to which he said both players can wear what they want so long as they are performing on the pitch.
He said: “I don’t care what car he drives, what clothes he wears.
DON’T MISS
“As long as he respects his team-mates.
“Maybe Donny wears a longer overcoat, Dele a different coloured jacket.
“As long as they’re doing the right footballing things, I’m not bothered.”
Lampard takes charge of his first Premier League game as Everton boss on Tuesday against Newcastle.
Everton have won just one top flight match since the end of September with fears they could face a relegation scrap if results aren’t turned around.
And Lampard has challenged his new squad to head into the second half of the campaign “without fear”.
“Important game but we have to stay calm,” Lampard said.
“A long way to go. [We] have to isolate the. We face a strong team who have reinforced but we need to go in without fear.”
