Chelsea’s attempt to land Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer will be ‘really difficult’ according to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Blues desperately need a goalscorer and boss Thomas Tuchel wants to bring the Norway striker to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea impressed under Tuchel last season and lifted the Champions League trophy in May, just four months after the new boss arrived.
The west Londoners built their team around a solid defensive platform and kept 11 clean sheets in Tuchel’s 19 Premier League games in charge.
But they faced problems at the other end of the pitch, with their 58 league goals their lowest tally since the 1999/2000 season.
Tuchel needs to address his side’s lack of goals and Haaland, whose £67million (€75m) release clause will be activated next summer, has been linked to the club.
But Chelsea have been dealt a huge blow after it emerged that Dortmund have no intentions of letting their world-beating striker move on this summer.

Speaking to his followers on live-streaming platform Twitch, Romano said: “I think this deal will be really difficult this summer – that is my feeling.
“On Haaland if he stays at Dortmund, it’s true they’ll lose a lot of money [due to his release clause in 2022], but football is not just about balances and money – it’s also about winning titles.
“It’s also about details that are important for balance.
“People ask me why it makes sense for Dortmund to lose him in a year for €75million and not sell him now for €125m, €130m. I think it’s because of their desire to win something with Erling Haaland this season.

“But also remember the Champions League. They get a lot of money from the Champions League.
“If they lose that spot and if you sell Erling Haaland, that’ll be a big problem. That’s why they want to keep Erling Haaland.”
If Chelsea were to get their hands on Haaland they would have to smash the British transfer record.
With Olivier Girould departing for AC Miland and Tammy Abraham rumoured to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, former striker Tony Cascarino believes the move for Haaland could still be on the cards.
“Tammy has been rumoured to go so they’re making space,” Cascarino told talkSPORT. “They have to do that because of financial fair play.
“Some people will say that doesn’t work but clubs are trying to abide by the rule and they have to move people out.
“For them to do that they are going to do a mind-boggling transfer and I think it will be Haaland.
“Whether everyone says no it’s next year and that’s in his contract, Chelsea are going to offer big money for somebody and I suspect it will be him.”
