Erling Haaland has shown off his brutal battle scars following Manchester City's clash with Brighton on Wednesday.

The newly-crowned champions drew the game 1-1, a result which ended their staggering 12-match winning streak, with Haaland failing to get on the scoresheet for the third game in a row … though in hindsight you can hardly blame him.

After the match the Norwegian took to Instagram to show off his new Nike trainers and fans couldn't help but notice several mangy cuts and bruises on his right ankle, demonstrating the sort of rough treatment he gets from defenders every week.

In response to the snap, one supporter tweeted: "Flippin heck look at those cuts! Haaland is a monster," while another said: "The only way defenders can stop Haaland it seems."

A third wrote: "Has to be rested against Brentford, man's not being protected by referees and he’s taken yet another battering today, while a fourth agreed, adding: "That’s it you're done. No more playing until you go to Wembley."

Haaland thought he'd netted a late winner against Brighton after nodding home a header from a few yards out, but the goal was calked off by VAR who'd noticed he'd yanked Seagulls defender Levi Colwill's shirt in the build-up.

With the league title wrapped up, City fans will be desperate for Pep Guardiola to do the same to Haaland ahead of their FA Cup and Champions League double-header at the start of next month.

The two finals will be the first Haaland has appeared in since he won the DFB-Pokal (German football's equivalent of the FA Cup) with Dortmund in 2021.

The 22-year-old has scored a whopping 52 goals in all competitions this season, with 36 of those coming in the league, and is a shoo-in for the PFA Player of the Year award, which will be handed out at the end of the domestic campaign.
