In-demand Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has reportedly given the green light for his preferred transfer move to be completed. Haaland has starred in the Bundesliga since moving from Red Bull Salzburg, becoming one of the best strikers in the sport.

The Norwegian scored 41 goals in 41 games for the Black and Yellow last season, as they won the DFB-Pokal and finished in the top four of the Bundesliga.

For much of the season, it had appeared the Haaland would leave Signal-Iduna Park this summer, as Dortmund look to bring in as big a fee as possible.

The striker’s contract contains a £64million release clause, but this will only be activated in next summer’s transfer window.

With Haaland clearly at the top of his game and still only 20-years-old, many of Europe’s top clubs will be interested in his signature.

The striker’s agent, Mino Raiola, has already flown out to Spain to meet with Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been reported as being keen to sign Haaland in the past.

But the Premier League clubs’ hopes of getting their man appear to have suffered a major blow after Haaland revealed his preferred destination.

According to Marca, the Norwegian has given the “green light” to a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid.

The Spanish news organisation state that this has seen them move their focus away from Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe.

It comes after a season in which the club failed to win any silverware, finishing second in La Liga and being knocked out of the Champions League in the semi-finals.

Club president Florentino Perez is believed to want to sign a galatico-type player this summer, to reinvigorate Madrid’s fanbase.

Haaland’s astonishing performance in the Champions League, having scored 10 goals in eight European games last season, has particularly interested Madrid.

But there appears to be a major stumbling block to a deal for Haaland, with Dortmund and Los Blancos still significantly apart on agreeing a fee.

With Dortmund at risk of losing their star for just £64m next year, they are aiming to maximise their profit from a sale, slapping a £130m price tag on the striker.

Los Blancos have already seen a bid turned down, with La Repubblica reporting that a £94m offer was rejected by Dortmund.

In a boost to Perez and Madrid though, Marca state that an agreement could be reached for a fee in the region of £111m.
