Erling Haaland may have attracted attention from around Europe, but Borussia Dortmund are believed to be confident of keeping hold of him. Haaland’s father and agent have been going out and meeting with clubs to discuss a potential transfer this summer.
Haaland is set to be the most in-demand player in the world this summer.
The Norwegian wonderkid seems destined to leave Dortmund, with virtually every top club in Europe interested.
Last week, Haaland’s father and agent went around meeting with clubs – including Real Madrid and Barcelona – to sound out potential suitors ahead of the transfer window opening.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are all interested, and want to move for him once the window opens.
However, Dortmund are apparently confident that they’ll be able to keep hold of the wonderkid.
Haaland has a release clause of £65million which will become active next summer, and as a result the Bundesliga giants are charging top dollar this summer.
They’ve slapped a £127m asking price on his head this summer, in the hope of staving off any interest.
And The Athletic claims Dortmund feel no club will pay that fee.
Dortmund are currently going through a torrid campaign in the Bundesliga and are at risk of missing out on the Champions League.
But even if they do, they are apparently adamant that they won’t reduce their asking price at all.
It remains to be seen whether Haaland will start to push for a move away if they don’t qualify for Europe’s elite competition, however.
Haaland’s team-mates at the Signal Iduna Park are said to be content with the circus going on behind the scenes because he’s still delivering on the pitch.
The 20-year-old has scored 21 goals in 22 Bundesliga games this season, as well as ten in six in the Champions League.
Premier League managers have been reluctant to declare an interest in Haaland, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Thomas Tuchel both refusing to comment.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola went a step further, however, and insisted there’s little chance of being able to afford him.
The Spaniard confirmed that it was currently unlikely that City would sign a new striker in the upcoming summer transfer window due to the hefty fees being demanded.
