England’s WAGs land in Qatar ahead of World Cup opener and head to £1bn cruise

England's WAGs jetted into Qatar for the World Cup – weighed down with bags.

The Three Lions’ players’ wives, girlfriends and families touched down in the Gulf with mountains of luggage packed with glamorous gear to see them through what they hope will be a long stay.

Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s wife Megan arrived at Manchester Airport carrying a doll of her husband in full England kit. She clutched the cuddly toy as she checked-in luggage before catching the 8.20am flight to Gatwick before boarding another jet for the seven-hour journey to Qatar.

Kyle Walker’s wife Annie draped an England cowboy hat over a suitcase.

The pair were joined by defender Harry Maguire’s wife Fern, Charlotte Trippier who is married to right back Kieran and winger Jack Grealish’s girlfriend Sasha Attwood.

The WAGs – who turned up with more than 50 suitcases between them – hugged each other and chatted as they waited in the queue with other passengers.

One fellow flyer said: "They were certainly in good spirits. There were plenty of smiling faces among them.

"They were chatting about England's chances and seemed really confident they would do well."

After touching down in Qatar they will be whisked to the £1 billion cruise ship MSC World Europa – dubbed the `floating palace’ – where they will stay throughout the tournament.

The ship – which usually costs £2,435 for nine nights – has docked at the port in Qatar’s capital Doha Port to offer extra accommodation to fans from all over the world.

Guests will live the high life thanks to onboard beauty salons, boutiques, dodgems, 14 ocean-view Jacuzzis, a shopping mall, roller disco rink and the longest dry-slide at sea titled The Venom Drop.

The ship even boasts a micro-brewery to make its own beer.

Though the WAGs will live in luxury aboard the swanky ship their player partners will not be allowed to join them on board.

Manager Gareth Southgate has insisted they maintain a strict anti-Covid bubble at their beachfront Souq Al Wakra Hotel 11 miles away.
