England player made penis disappear in shower – leaving Gerrard & Crouch baffled

As party tricks go, making your penis disappear in front of some of the most iconic England players of a generation is certainly a way to be remembered.

David Wheater may not have made enough of an impression on the pitch for England's Under-21 side to earn a senior call-up – but he definitely made an impact in the showers while sharing a changing room with Steven Gerrard and Peter Crouch.

The former Middlesbrough and Bolton defender spoke openly about his penis vanishing party trick on a recent podcast appearance, going into some quite unnecessary detail.

"I’ve got a shower trick as well, it’s a good shower trick – I can hide my willy," Wheater said with assurance on the Undr the Cosh podcast.

"I showed the lads like Gerrard and [Peter] Crouch in the showers, then afterwards I’m thinking well again 'what am I doing here'.

"I learnt it, well I didn’t learn it, I did it by accident when I was a bit younger.

"When I was younger, there was one time I was playing with it, and it disappeared. It’s not when you tuck it, it was when I squeezed it, and it goes back in."

The 35-year-old was then asked what prompted his display of body manipulation, admitting that a club team-mate had let slip of his odd talent.

"Stewie (Steward Downing) told them, because I used to do it in Middlesbrough," added Wheater.

"So I’m like livening it up, squeezing it, and then I push it back down. Yeah I’d hide it, and then I pretended to screw it back on, and it pops back out."

When asked what the other England players though, Wheater concluded: "Oh they loved it yeah."

Wheater played alongside the likes of Joe Hart and James Milner as well as Gerrard and Crouch, making 29 appearances for various England youth sides between 2002 and 2009. As of 2022, he is still playing and captains Darlington.
