England kit man in hysterics at Hungary ultras’ blunder in taking England balls

Hungary supporters thought they'd got one up on the travelling England team by nicking footballs that went into the crowd on Thursday evening – but were laughed at by the Three Lions kit man.

Gareth Southgate's men brushed their World Cup qualifying Group I opponents aside with ease during an impressive second-half display – despite the actions of a section of home fans.

With Raheem Sterling the target of projectiles and racist chanting, which was also aimed at Jude Bellingham, FIFA have opened an investigation into those actions.

Before matters got more serious, the Hungarians thought they could disrupt and maybe annoy England staff and players by taking their warm-up balls – but would've been mistaken.

Using his Twitter account, England senior kitman Pat Frost wrote: "BTW….lost 6 balls in amongst the ultras and they were buzzing, they thought they were nicking our balls…..

"The Hungarian FA gave us them for the warm up….they nicked their own."

With England players then taking the knee at kick-off, they were met with vicious boos from members of the home support and the issues didn't stop there.

ITV's touchline reporter Gabriel Clarke said on air: "We're behind the goal that England are attacking.

"I'm sad to report some monkey chanting from supporters in the ultras section directed first at Raheem Sterling and then Jude Bellingham when he was warming up in this corner of the ground.

"I'm not sure if the players heard any of that.

"The Hungarian FA have warned fans not to do this but it's been audible and it's been visible."

After the fixture, Fifa detailed future disciplinary proceedings.

They wrote: “Following analysis of the match reports, Fifa has opened disciplinary proceedings concerning the incidents last night at the game Hungary-England.

“Once again, Fifa would like to state that our position remains firm and resolute in rejecting any form of racism and violence as well as any other form of discrimination or abuse.

"We have a very clear zero tolerance stance against such abhorrent behaviours in football.”
