England defender Lotte Wubben-Moy has left their European Championship camp after testing positive for COVID-19.
The FA have confirmed that the Arsenal centre-back left the group on Friday but will return to camp ‘as soon as possible’ as they continue their Euro 2022 campaign.
The 23-year-old was an unused sub during the Lionesses’ 1-0 win over Austria in the opening game of the tournament.
England’s Lotte Wubben-Moy has tested positive for COVID-19 and withdrawn from their camp
In a statement on Friday, the FA confirmed: ‘Lotte Wubben-Moy has tested positive for Covid and has returned home. She will be monitored regularly with a view to returning to camp as soon as possible.’
Wubben-Moy, who plays for Arsenal, has represented England eight times.
A 1-0 victory against Austria and a perfect start to their Euro 2022 campaign. Beth Mead’s goal in the 16th minute was enough to send a 68,871-strong crowd, a new record for the women’s Euros, home happy.
Sarina Wiegman’s side will face Norway on July 11 and Northern Ireland on July 15 in their next group stage games.
‘The first game in a tournament, it’s so important to win and have a good start,’ Wiegman said.
