Ellen White accused of ‘taking diving lessons from Harry Kane’ to win penalty
Ellen White drew comparisons with Tottenham striker Harry Kane after winning a questionable penalty for England against Norway.
Kane has developed something of a reputation among supporters for his exaggerated falls to the floor inside the box. And plenty on social media thought White took a leaf out of the 28-year-old's book to give the Lionesses the lead against Norway.
With ten minutes on the clock, the Manchester City forward received the ball just inside the penalty area with her back to goal. She produced a neat turn to get away from defender Maria Thorisdottir, only to hit the deck moments later.

Thorisdottir appeared to bundle White over, leaving referee Riem Hussein with little choice but to award a penalty. However, replays showed minimal contact between the two players.
Georgia Stanway tucked away the resulting spot-kick to give England a 1-0 lead, but football fans on social media did not want to let go of the issue of White's theatrics.

More than a few unhappy supporters compared the 33-year-old to Tottenham captain Kane, with some even suggesting he had given her tips on how to hit the deck.
"I don’t know about that as a penalty. Ellen White looks like she’s taken diving lessons from Harry Kane," moaned one. As another said: "Ellen White channeling Harry Kane there."
A third person added: "Ellen White graduated from the Harry Kane school of penalty box etiquette." While a fourth user chimed in with: "White been learning diving off Harry Kane clearly."
And the comparisons just kept on coming. "Ellen White with a dive that even Harry Kane would be proud of," joke someone else. While another commenter said: "Ellen White is the unknown sister of Harry Kane. Embarrassing dive."
Stanway's early penalty opened the floodgates for England, who went in at the break 6-0 ahead. A brace apiece from White and Beth Mead, plus one from Lauren Hemp, made it a first half to remember for the Lionesses.
