Pop star Dua Lipa has incurred the wrath of Liverpool fans on social media after appearing to switch her footballing allegiances to support Arsenal.

The 27-year-old, who has previously expressed her affinity for Liverpool prior to their 2018 Champions League final clash with Real Madrid, posted a selfie on her Instagram recently whilst watching Arsenal in action at the Emirates.

The Gunners ran out 4-1 winners last weekend against Leeds United to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to eight points ahead of Manchester City.

Posting from the stands, the singer showed herself wrapped up in an Arsenal scarf. She also took a photo of an Arsenal crowd surfer flag.

Previously, she has described herself as an "honorary Liverpool supporter" despite her brother and dad both supporting Arsenal.

Speaking to WIRED back in 2020 when asked about if she supports Liverpool following their adoption of her song 'One Kiss', she said: "How do I say this in the best way possible. I'm like, can you say like an honorary Liverpool supporter.

"Only because my dad and brother support Arsenal and I think I'd be getting in a lot of trouble if I said that I just support Liverpool, but I love Liverpool."

However, some Liverpool fans are not happy with her decision to defect and support the Gunners.

One fan tweeted "Dua lipa supporting arsenal is a joke she’ll never be as loved as liverpool fans love her" with another adding "Oh f*** off, we've lost Dua Lipa to Arsenal, didn't think this season could get any worse."

To make things worse for Liverpool, hours prior to losing her support, the Reds fell 4-1 to Manchester City at the Etihad.
