Donny van de Beek gives his approval to Erik ten Hag’s appointment at Manchester United as he likes post on Ajax’s instagram confirming the news… with Everton loanee hoping for a clean slate under his former boss to revive his Old Trafford career
- Donny van de Beek has liked Ajax’s Instagram post on Erik ten Hag’s departure
- The Dutchman has been confirmed as the new manager of Manchester United
- Van de Beek, 25, has struggled since his £35million move to Red Devils in 2020
- The Everton loanee will hope he can rescue his United career under ten Hag
Donny van de Beek has unsurprisingly liked an Instagram from his former club Ajax confirming Manchester United’s appointment of Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag will leave his job at Ajax at the end of the season to become United’s fifth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
The pair previously worked together at Ajax before Van de Beek made a £35million move to United in September 2020.

They won the Eredivisie title as well as the Dutch cup in the 2018-19 campaign, while they also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League before being knocked out in dramatic style by Tottenham.
Van de Beek excelled in a number 10 role under the 52-year-old and it is somewhat expected that he is given a chance and deployed in that role as the pair reunite next season.
The Dutchman’s appointment at United has been expected for some time and the midfielder will see it as a good chance to get back into contention at Old Trafford under his former boss, who is surely going to give him a chance to shine.

Ten Hag will know of van de Beek’s ability and will understand how to get the best out of his former star.
Therefore van de Beek, who looked to be heading for the exit door at Old Trafford, will be expected to be given a life line to be a part of the anticipated rebuild under ten Hag.
Perhaps that is the real reason behind why the Dutch midfielder decided to like Ajax’s Instagram post confirming the news.
The post said: ‘I want to finish my time here on a positive note, by winning the league.’

The 25-year-old has struggled since joining the Red Devils – he made just two starts in the Premier League across the entirety of 2021 – and played just 380 minutes across all competitions for the Old Trafford club this season.
After a lack of game time, he was sent out on loan to Everton in the January transfer window to get more regular game time, but instead he has struggled with injuries.
Van de Beek has made just six appearances for the Toffees and failed to impress under Frank Lampard in their battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Although the Dutch midfielder is expected to be in contention for the trip to Liverpool on Sunday after returning from injury to fill a place on the bench in their 1-1 draw with Leicester on Wednesday evening.
Van de Beek could still play a huge role in the Toffees fortunes down the final stretch of the season and surely having a big impact will only stand him in good stead ahead of anticipated return to United in the summer.
Either way, the focus must remain on finishing the season strongly and hoping that he will be given a clean slate when he returns to his parent club.
