Diogo Jota injury update from Jurgen Klopp is huge worry for Liverpool fans

It was the ultimate performance for Liverpool on Wednesday night as they weathered the Inter Milan storm, and pounced late on to take a 2-0 lead back to Anfield in the Champions League.

The Serie A Champions worried Liverpool at times, but the brilliance of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate meant that Alisson didn't have a shot to face all night.

Jurgen Klopp wasn't afraid to make changes, and used all five throughout the course of the game, although some fans were surprised to see Diogo Jota pulled off at half time.

It's been confirmed that Jota picked up an injury during the first half, and Klopp provided a worrying update on Liverpool's Portuguese star.

With Liverpool playing three times in the next 10 days, with a Carabao Cup final against Chelsea the last fixture, Klopp couldn't afford to take any risks, and he was blessed with Roberto Firmino on the bench.

But the German is not sure what to make of Jota's injury, as he said: "I'm really happy with everything apart from obviously Diogo had to go off with something around the ankle ligament.

"We will see. We don't know exactly. He could play on, which is maybe a good sign. Half time the ankle was swollen already, so we had to change."

Jota wasn't the only star to pick up a knock in Milan though, as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was seen receiving treatment while the squad cooled down after the much, with a suspected hamstring issue.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was an unused sub during the match, but his latest injury scare is the latest in a lengthy battle with fitness, as the midfielder struggles to catch a break.

Thankfully for Klopp, his bench for Liverpool's trip to Milan was as strong as many had seen since he arrived at the club in 2015, but he will want his stars back to full fitness as soon as possible.
