Diego Simeone has insisted that he will not turn his back on Atletico Madrid, despite their latest setback after crashing out of the Champions League in the group-stages.
The Argentine has won the LaLiga twice, the Copa del Rey, the Supercopa de Espana, Europa League (twice) and the Super Cup (twice) during his decade long stay at the club.
The Champions League still eludes him at Atletico after his side crashed out of the competition following a dramatic a 2-2 draw against Bayern Leverkusen.

Atletico were dumped out of the Champions League in the group-stages with one match left
Simeone, who remains in contract with Atletico until the summer of 2024, admitted after the match that he will stay on in search of winning the Champions League.
‘It’s the hardest moment but I’m going to continue insisting on this club to get something we need, such as the Champions League,’ he said.
Atletico still had faint hopes of qualifying from Group B, but were held to a 2-2 draw by Bayer Leverkusen, with Yannick Carrasco missing an injury-time penalty that would have kept them in the hunt for a top-two finish.

Simeone’s side now, however, head into the final matchday on five points, unable to catch up to group leaders Club Brugge on 10 points or Porto on nine.
As a result, Atletico exit the competition at the group stages for only the second time in the last 10 years.
The Spanish side will now have to settle for picking up a result against Porto to cement third place in the group and bag a place in the Europa League.
