- New team-mate Sergio Aguero made a similar move from Manchester City
- Depay hope they will now be able to form a front three alongside Lionel Messi
- Messi is still yet to agree a new contract at the Nou Camp but talks are ongoing

Memphis Depay insists that alongside Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero they can form a key front three at Barcelona next season.
Depay arrived at the Nou Camp over the summer on a free transfer from Lyon in a ‘dream’ move for the 27-year-old, just after Aguero made a similar switch from Manchester City following the expiry of their respective contracts.
Although Messi’s deal also expired at Barcelona at the end of June, talks are still ongoing over agreeing a new contract and Depay insists that given the different attacking styles of the trio, they could all combine to devastating effect next season.

‘It would be amazing to play with [Messi]. Hopefully it is possible. He has a number of qualities that the team needs and it would be important to build everything around that,’ he told Sport.
‘There is a lot of talent in the team. It would be great for me to play alongside him and win titles.
‘We have many attackers, but all different in my opinion. I have different abilities and strengths than Sergio Aguero, for example, or any other player.

‘I think the three of us are compatible and different, but we are going to see how everything happens.’
Depay’s move to Barcelona had been a year in the waiting, with Nou Camp boss Ronald Koeman having hoped to sign him last summer after taking charge at the club where he won the Champions League in his playing days.
Koeman and Depay had a good relationship working together at international level while the Dutchman was in charge of the national side and the former Manchester United winger believes this will help him settle quicker in his new surroundings.

The duo have previously worked together well while with the Holland national team
‘[Koeman] has had a great impact on me, in important years,’ he added. ‘He was able to change the Netherlands team, he counted on me, he gave me confidence.
‘Now he has wanted to count on me for this adventure in Barcelona, so he has undoubtedly been a relevant figure.
‘I know him and how he trains, so it’s easier for me to adapt. I know what he expects of me, we’ve been working together for a long time. Even with him on the bench it will obviously not be easy at all, but it is clear that it is a good thing. Without him it would have been different.’
