Ole Gunnar Solskjaer enjoyed a proud dad moment as his daughter Karna won her first trophy with Manchester United’s women’s team on Wednesday night.
United’s under-21 team thrashed Birmingham City 4-1 to win the Women’s Super League Academy Cup at St George’s Park with 19-year-old Karna playing just over an hour before being subbed off.
She played an excellent through ball to set up Alyssa Aherne to score the second of United’s goals in the win, having also played a roll in Aherne’s opening goal in the first-half.

At the full-time whistle, the former United striker and manager went pitchside to congratulate Karna and pose for a photograph.
Solskjaer has kept a low profile since his sacking by the Old Trafford club back in November but he has been following his daughter’s progress very closely.
He was at Bridgwater United with wife Silje when Karna made her first-team debut for United in a Women’s FA Cup tie back in January. She has scored 14 goals so far this season for the under-21 side.
United manager Marc Skinner was full of praise for the teenager at the time and suggested there were plenty of similarities between father and daughter.

He said: ‘Honestly, if you watch some of her finishes from this season, she’s got a wonderful, wonderful finishing ability.
‘She has a wonderful physical stature, I didn’t realise how tall Ole was until I met him in person.
United Women manager Marc Skinner has praised Karna’s finishing abilities
‘She’s an extremely tall player. She does play slightly differently to Ole in terms of she does, for our under-21s, tend to play in a wider situation and come into the box.
‘But what she does have and, I want to make sure Ole tries to pass these secrets on, she has a wonderful finishing ability.
‘But I’ve always found with the wonderful finishers, it’s how they calm their mind and see the opportunity rather than the obstacle.
‘Ole was wonderful at doing that and I think Karna has that same trait. I think they’ve learned it, I think it’s a learned trait.’
Skinner added in the comments back in January: ‘Ole is a wonderful character and has obviously been a wonderful player and manager for this club and means so much to it.
‘But Karna is her own person and it’s not right, and I know Ole more importantly would [say] ‘it’s not about me, it’s about Karna’. He’d be a wonderful [person] to help educate her.’
Solskjaer, who scored 126 goals in 366 matches for United between 1996 and 2007, won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, the Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup.

He has joked in the past that his daughter can barely remember him in United colours.
‘My daughter Karna and my youngest son Elijah… they don’t remember their daddy playing,’ he said.
‘Noah [his oldest son] can vouch for me – I hope! No need for any scrapbooks or newspaper clippings, he can just tell them about the time he saw dad scoring the winning goals for United at Old Trafford.’
