Declan Rice says ‘I want Champions League footy because you only get one career’

Declan Rice has issued a come and get me plea to Europe's biggest clubs.

The England and West Ham ace has emerged as one of the most in demand midfielders in world football. Rice snubbed the offer of a new long-term deal worth £200,000-a-week from the Hammers last season.

His current deal runs until 2024, with the option to extend it a further 12 months. But the biggest clubs are queuing up to sign the midfield ace, including Manchester United, City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain.

And Rice has dropped the strongest hint yet that he could leave the Hammers sooner rather than later because he wants to be playing in the biggest competitions and winning trophies.

The 23-year-old said: "Yeah – one hundred per cent I want to play in the Champions League.

"For the last two or three years I've been saying that. I've been playing consistently well for my club and I feel like I really want to keep pushing.

"I see my friends here (with England at the World Cup), who are playing Champions League and competing for big trophies.

"You only get one career and at the end of it you want to look back at what you've won and the biggest games you've played in. I really want to do that."
