Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes gave United a 2-0 lead, but Leeds fought back with Rodrigo and Raphinha both notching goals early in the second-half, but Fred and Anthony Elanga came to the rescue to ensure the three points.

‘The thing I can say about United is that this is how far they have come, and it’s a shame because they are brilliant club,’ the former Liverpool midfielder told talkSPORT.

‘But they were celebrating that win at Leeds – to cement fourth position for the time being – like they had won the title.

Former Liverpool midfielder Murphy insists expectations have got to be higher than being fourth and beating Leeds

‘They’ve spent the most money in the Premier League and they’re celebrating fourth position and talking about, “A couple of months ago we wouldn’t have won this game”. Come on.

‘The expectations have got to be higher. I’m just saying this thing that United have won two in a week and are now in fourth and everything’s alright again – I don’t concur with that.’
