Crystal Palace’s home game with West Ham has been delayed by 15 minutes due to an issue with season tickets at Selhurst Park.

The London derby is a critical meeting for two teams near the bottom of the Premier League.

But the kick-off has been delayed from 12.30pm to 12.45pm as a result of issues with season-ticket card holders and turnstiles in South-East London.

A significant number of empty seats were seen at the 25,486-capacity stadium in the run-up to kick-off, which forced officials to hold off the start until the problem could be resolved.

Before the official delay, Crystal Palace tweeted: ‘We’re aware of issues with regard to turnstiles upon entering the stadium, we apologise for any inconvenience caused and are working hard to rectify the situation’.

Crystal Palace hosted London rivals West Ham in the Premier League ar Saturday lunchtime

Selhurst Park celebrates its 100th birthday next summer, and has hosted Crystal Palace in the whole of those 99 years, alongside brief tenancies from fellow South London sides Charlton Athletic and Wimbledon.

In March, a couple of Champions League fixtures in London were briefly delayed due to traffic problems causing delayed arrivals of the visiting teams before kick-off.

Saturday’s meeting sees the Hammers needing a win to try and resolve their own relegation problems, while the Eagles continue to try and build on their new lease of life under interim boss Roy Hodgson. Follow the live blog here.
