Crystal Palace set to make Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira their new manager
Crystal Palace are set to make Patrick Vieira their new manager.
The Premier League side have an agreement in principle with the Arsenal legend to replace Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park, according to The Athletic.
The 45-year-old left his role as Nice head coach last December and is now set for a return to the Premier League.
A deal is still to be officially signed but a final agreement between all parties is expected later today.
Palace are in the process of applying for a visa with hope that Vieira can begin his duties at the south London club on Monday.
The Eagles have explored a number of different options to replace Hodgson, who left his role in May after four seasons in charge.
Nuno Espirito Santo and Lucien Favre were among those to hold talks with the club with talks with each of those candidates collapsing.
Palace now appear to have their man.
The former France international ended his playing career in 2011 at 35, taking on his first role in management with New York City FC in 2015.
In 2018, he was appointed as the new manager of Nice, leading the club to a seventh place finish in his first season in charge.
He was sacked by the French club last December after a disappointing campaign with that run culminating in five straight defeats.
