Crystal Palace are in talks to sign Manchester City’s promising young forward Morgan Rogers.

The 18-year old was bought by City from West Brom in a deal worth up to £8million in 2019 after he earned a reputation as one of the brightest talents in the country and impressed playing against them in the FA Youth Cup.

He has continued to progress and had an impressive second half of last season on loan at League One Lincoln City, picking up the EFL young player of the month award for March, and scoring six goals in 25 appearances as they narrowly missed out on promotion.

Manchester City’s highly-talented young forward Morgan Rogers is wanted by Crystal Palace

Rogers benefited from his time under Lincoln boss Michael Appleton, who described him as: ‘A proper, proper footballer on and off the pitch. He’s the type of player you want to work with all the time.’

City paid £4m up front for the England U18 international and have since paid a further £750,000 of their instalments while West Brom also retain a sell on percentage.

It’s understood City would want around £7m and would ask for their own sell on percentage in talks with Palace.

The Selhurst Park club have a number of new additions lined up and are going through a list of targets with new manager Patrick Vieira.

They are keen to bring down the age of their squad and had a number of experienced players out of contract.

Rogers fits the profile as they look to build a new squad to take them forward.
