Host commentator
Just as thousands of Scotland fans decamp to London for the day, there is action at Hampden Park as well.
The spiritual home of the Scotland team has a capacity of 52,000 but it’ll be significantly emptier than that today. The crowd for the Scotland vs Czech Republic game the other day was only 9,847 because of the Covid-19 restrictions.
At least the weather in Glasgow is decent – a stark contrast to London, which currently resembles a water park – with sunny spells and temperatures in the comfortable mid to high teens for the game.
Croatia are unbeaten in their three previous meetings with the Czech Republic (D2, L1).
Those three games have produced 12 goals in total, an average of four per match.
Croatia have lost eight of their last 14 matches in all competitions (W4, D2). They have just claimed two wins in their last 10 games (D2, L6).
The Croats have never lost their second match in a major tournament – a run spanning 10 games (W6, D4).
Ante Rebic has scored just one goal in his last 21 appearances for Croatia, attempting 31 shots in that time.
Czech Republic’s only draw in their last 19 group stage matches (W9, D9) at major tournaments came against Croatia in Euro 2016, with the game ending 2-2.
The Czechs could win their opening two group stage matches at a major tournament for just the third time in their history – they last did so at Euro 2004.
Patrik Schick has been involved in 10 goals in his last nine starts for his country, scoring eight goals and providing two assists.
Schick’s five shots on target against Scotland is the most any player has managed for the Czech Republic in a major tournament.
Fair play to these fans, who were desperate to get in early at Hampden Park and soak up as much atmosphere as possible. They include someone who’s clearly a fan of Croatia’s midfield magician Modric.
If you do want to follow all the build-up to the game at Wembley later then we are running a parallel live blog.

A reminder of how the table looks after the first round of games.
The Czech Republic sit top after their 2-0 win over Scotland at Hampden Park with goal difference splitting them from England, who beat Croatia 1-0 at Wembley last Sunday.
Zero points so far obviously for Scotland and Croatia but a long way to go yet.
Three matches for you on this Friday to finish off a busy week.
Ongoing at the moment is the Group E contest between Sweden and Slovakia in Saint Petersburg. To be honest it hasn’t been a classic and it remains goalless a few minutes into the second-half. Nonetheless, you can follow it live here.
At 5pm we turn our attention to Group D with Croatia vs Czech Republic and then, as if you needed reminding, it’s England vs Scotland at 8pm.
Good afternoon! I know everyone is counting down the hours until that huge England vs Scotland clash at Wembley tonight but we have a pretty tasty hors d’oeuvre for you first.
It’s also in Group D and sees Croatia taking on the Czech Republic at Hampden Park in Glasgow, the result of which will have huge implications on who makes it into the last-16.
The Czech Republic have put themselves into a strong position with that 2-0 win over Scotland the other day, while Croatia need a chance of fortunes after Sunday’s 1-0 loss to England.
Croatia will begin as the favourites nonetheless and if they win, it’ll set up a fascinating finale to the group.
Welcome along to our coverage of this 5pm kick-off. Dan Davis will be along in a bit to cover the game itself but I’ll bring you plenty of build-up before then.
