Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the richest athletes on the planet – and his most spectacular property has been labelled the most expensive flat in Portugal.

The 36-year-old, who is back in the Premier League following nine seasons with Real Madrid and three with Juventus, is currently enjoying some down time before getting back into the action.

The Portugal skipper, who lives with partner Georgina Rodriguez and his four children, is currently in his native country enjoying one of his most impressive dwellings.

Located on the Avenida da Liberdade, which is central in the capital city of Lisbon, the £6million penthouse looks the perfect place to recharge before another big life change.

With work beginning on the property more than 10 years ago, the 3,100 square foot paradise includes a personal swimming pool which will be perfect for their young family.

With Prime Time reporting that it is the most expensive apartment ever sold in the country, Flash say that it includes a gym, three large bedrooms and even a spa.

Ronaldo is said to stay in the Portuguese capital when he wants more privacy, and is set to head to England during the coming days as the international break gets underway.

Speaking to The Sun earlier this year, neighbour Elizabeth said that the property seems a quiet one from the outside, noting that Cristiano Junior has been seen using his skateboard on the nearby streets.

"A lot of silence, no parties. I've never seen cars pass by our private road," she said of Ronaldo's flat.

"I often see him at the wheel of a Rolls-Royce. We see him pass every day, with tinted windows.

"But in the garage of his house he also has sports cars, like a Lotus."

Before adding: "I see Cristiano Junior often wandering with his skateboard, up and down the street that leads to our homes, always with the bodyguards behind."

Ronaldo is yet to break his silence after leaving Juventus to return to Old Trafford, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the moon with his most recent addition.

He said: "He is a great player, a great human being. I'm excited to keep building this squad. He will bring something completely different.

"Let's get him back to United after the break and hopefully he'll be involved as soon as possible. He will make us a better team.

"Hopefully Cristiano can come in and show what he has done in his career. I am sure he likes all the talk about being old. Make it personal and he will show what he can do."
