Juventus and PSG are reportedly considering a sensational swap deal involving Cristiano Ronaldo and Mauro Icardi. If the Portuguese was to join the Parisians, it would come as a blow to Manchester United who have hopes of signing him when his Juventus contract expires in 2022.

Ronaldo has been linked to PSG numerous times in the past, as has Icardi with Juve.

Although the 36-year-old has never played domestically in France, he has shown during his career that he is not one to shy away from a new challenge.

Conversely, Icardi would be returning to the familiarity of Serie A where he enjoyed six prolific seasons with Inter Milan.

With ample reason for both parties to be interested, Marca have claimed that a swap deal could be in the works this summer.

The former Madrid man added fuel to the fire when he recently posted ‘decision day’ on social media.

It had previously been expected that Ronaldo would see out his Juventus contract and leave for free in 2022.

However, for a club who spent around £100million to bring him in, losing him for nothing would come as a real financial kick in the teeth.

As such, pressure could grow on Massimiliano Allegri and his side to shift Ronaldo this summer in order to receive some form of compensation in return.

That compensation may arrive in the form of Icardi who was one of the hottest strikers in Italy during his stint at Inter.

Unfortunately, however, he has always come with a catch – his volatile temperament and questionable work-rate.

Although the Argentine is certainly capable of the spectacular and knows his way to goal, he has not always been someone a team can look to when the chips are down.

Icardi’s time in France has by no means been a disaster, but he could return to his rampant best if he transitions back to the familiarity of Serie A.

The possibility of this swap deal will come as painful news for Manchester United, who are seemingly always mentioned when Ronaldo’s club future begins to look uncertain.

Who could forget the tricky front-man’s first spell at the club, where his quick feet dazzled the Old Trafford faithful as he worked his way up to being one of the world’s best?

Now entering his late-thirties, CR7 is by no means a long-term prospect, but his remarkable goal-scoring rate refuses to die down.

With the action man-like figure always keeping himself in peak physical condition, there is little doubt that Ronaldo has at least two seasons in him where he is at the top of his game.
