Juventus and Manchester United will reportedly have an ‘interesting’ talk this summer to discuss the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the north west of England. Despite Juventus winning at the weekend, Ronaldo cut a frustrated figure at full time as he stormed down the tunnel.

He was seen throwing his Juventus shirt to the ground following the full-time whistle.

The gesture didn’t go down well in Italy though with some reports suggesting fans saw it as a lack of respect to the club.

Andrea Pirlo attempted to playdown the incident, insisting Ronaldo’s anger was just because the Portuguese superstar failed to get on the scoresheet.

“He was angry because he didn’t manage to score,” Pirlo said.

But Ronaldo’s show of frustration has seemingly fed the speculation regarding his future in Turin.

He has just over a year left on his lucrative contract at Juventus and it’s been suggested the Serie A giants will not be looking to extend his deal.

United have been quietly mentioned as being a possible destination for Ronaldo over the past year.

However, it appears as though the Red Devils are growing more confident of bringing the United icon back to the club.

DON’T MISS

According to Calciomercato, United’s impending qualification for next season’s Champions League puts them in a very strong position to hold talks with Ronaldo.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side came back from 1-0 down to beat Tottenham on Sunday, leaving them nine points clear of fifth-placed Chelsea with just seven games remaining.

It will be the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 that United will have qualified for the Champions League in consecutive seasons.

And it appears as though United could realistically look to bring Ronaldo back to the club.

The report suggests that Juventus will not ask Ronaldo to leave, but they would not be opposed to his departure due to his high wages.

Real Madrid have also been linked, but the report claims the La Liga side’s president, Florentino Perez, is solely focussed on signing one of Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland.

Sporting Lisbon are also named as a possible suitor, but they would only be able to sign Ronaldo when he becomes a free agent in 2022.

Ronaldo has previously admitted that he would love to return to United one day.

“I love Manchester. Everyone knows that. Manchester is in my heart,” he said in 2014.

“The supporters are amazing and I wish I can come back one day.”
