Cristiano Ronaldo and Man Utd in race against time after latest injury update
Cristiano Ronaldo is facing a race against time to be fit for Manchester United's crunch showdown with Tottenham this weekend.
Ronaldo has been battling to overcome a hip problem that forced him to miss last week's 4-1 thrashing at derby rivals Manchester City.
The United superstar flew back to Portugal for the weekend to undergo treatment, before returning to Manchester at the start of this week to see the club's medical staff.
But he has not been able to train with the rest of his team-mates and is rated doubtful for Saturday's visit of Antonio Conte's men.
United interim boss Ralf Rangnick will be desperate to have Ronaldo available for a game that promises to have a huge bearing on his side's chances of making the top four.
United dropped out of the Champions League places last weekend and find themselves just two points better off than Spurs, who still have two games in hand.
Rangnick knows his side can ill-afford more slip-ups in the race to secure Champions League qualification.

But the German and his coaching staff will weigh up whether it is worth risking the 37-year-old forward against Spurs – and could decide to rest him so he is guaranteed to be available for next week's crunch Champions League showdown with Atletico Madrid.
United host the Spanish champions on Tuesday, in the decisive return leg of their Champions League last 16 tie, having drawn the first leg 1-1.
