Coronavirus: Nicola Sturgeon confirms full capacity crowds to return in Scotland from August 9
Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed Scotland will lift most of its remaining coronavirus restrictions next Monday, meaning sports stadia can welcome back full capacity crowds.
Making a statement in a virtual session of the Scottish Parliament, Scotland’s first minister said the move on August 9 will also see nightclubs reopen and social distancing coming to an end.
Sturgeon has already confirmed face coverings in shops and public transport will remain mandatory for “some time to come”.
Every part of Scotland moved to Level 0 in July, which meant more people could gather in groups and the opening hours of hospitality businesses could be extended.
The announcement comes after Ms Sturgeon’s Cabinet considered the latest coronavirus data on Tuesday morning.
