Christian Eriksen has reportedly started training by himself at his former side Odense Boldklub in the aftermath of his cardiac arrest in June.

The Inter Milan playmaker, 29, was coming off the back of winning a scudetto when he suffered a terrifying cardiac arrest on the pitch during Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener against Finland.

He recovered in hospital before being fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) but has not played a game since the incident.

And with the Italian medical authority suspending Eriksen from playing in Serie A matches due to the ICD, the Dane has sought to keep his sharpness by “reaching out” to his old Danish club.

A spokesperson for Odense Boldklub said: "Eriksen reached out to us, and he is now training by himself.

"It's natural for him since he played here in his youth and lives around the corner.

“We are very happy to be able to provide training facilities for him.”

Eriksen played for OB prior to joining Ajax in 2008 and becoming a Denmark international.

He went on to sign for Tottenham Hotspur in 2013 where he eventually reached the Champions League final in 2019, before a switch to Serie A side Inter.

Eriksen, who had to be resuscitated after collapsing, is hopeful of returning to competitive football despite the perceived risk by Italian football authorities.

While a return to Italy is out of the question as long as he has an ICD fitted, the lack of such rules in the Dutch Eredivisie means he has been linked with a potential return to Ajax in recent months.

Ajax defender Daley Blind is another player who was fitted with an ICD but has continued playing for the Dutch champions.
