Denmark star Simon Kjaer has been praised as a “hero” after helping teammate Christian Eriksen following his terrifying collapse on the pitch.
Football fans said he may have “saved his life” after stabilising him and starting CPR, and praised him as an "absolute legend".
Eriksen collapsed during Denmark’s Euro 2020 fixture against Finland on Saturday (June 12) at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen.
Kjaer ran towards him, stabilised him on his back, cleared his airways and started CPR before medics arrived.
Doctors then raced to the pitch and continued to perform CPR on the midfielder, while his teammates formed a protective ring around him to give him privacy.
Centre back Kjaer was seen comforting Eriksen's partner, Sabrina Kvist Jensen, at the side of the pitch as he received medical treatment.
The ex-Tottenham midfielder was taken to hospital and is now in a stable condition, UEFA confirmed.
His agent has since given an update, saying Eriksen is now able to speak.
Viewers flooded Twitter after the terrifying scenes to praise Kjaer.
Former Wrexham and Sunderland player Neil Wainwright tweeted: “Sounds like a lot of credit needs to go to @simonkjaer1989 who started CPR being first on the scene.
