Chelsea have reportedly put Mohamed Salah on their transfer shortlist ahead of the summer window. Thomas Tuchel has done a brilliant job since replacing Frank Lampard but, despite his side being in the FA Cup and Champions League final, could splash the cash regardless. Express Sport will now take a look at how the Blues could line up if they’re successful in landing the forward – as well as snapping up Raphael Varane and Romelu Lukaku.
Goalkeeper: Mendy
Chelsea took a punt back in the summer.
Having seen Kepa Arrizabalaga toil under Frank Lampard, the Blues decided to fork out for Edouard Mendy.
Mendy had done well for Rennes last term and has enjoyed a positive first season at Stamford Bridge so far, keeping Kepa out of the side.
The 29-year-old was the star of the show against Real Madrid in midweek, making fine saves to keep the La Liga giants at bay.
And Chelsea aren’t expected to strengthen in that department, especially if Kepa stays.

Defence: Zouma, Varane, Rudiger
Tuchel has deployed a back three throughout most of his Chelsea reign so far, just like predecessor Antonio Conte before him.
And the Blues’ backline could be about to get even better.
Chelsea are admirers of Raphael Varane, who could leave Real Madrid behind when the transfer window reopens.
And if the France international joins, he’d likely start most weeks – allowing Thiago Silva to be called upon when needed.
If that happens, it’s likely Varane would play alongside Kurt Zouma and Antonio Rudiger.

Midfield: Azpilicueta, Jorginho, Kante, Chilwell
Chelsea have used Cesar Azpilicueta and Ben Chilwell in the wing-back positions since Tuchel’s appointment as manager.
And with both players improving considerably, they’re likely to be played there next season as well.
In the heart of their midfield, both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante have also kicked on.
Jorginho looks like the player Chelsea thought they were getting when they paid £50million to sign him back in 2018.
And Kante is back to his blockbuster best, shining against Real Madrid in midweek.
Forwards: Salah, Lukaku, Werner
Chelsea want to sign a new striker this summer.
And while Erling Haaland is on their wishlist, Romelu Lukaku has also been lined up for a sensational Stamford Bridge return.
The Belgian has flourished for Inter Milan but, with the Serie A giants’ financial situation complicated by the pandemic, could be sold to free up funds.
Liverpool are likely to resist all offers from Chelsea for Salah.
Yet the Egypt international could feasibly play alongside both Lukaku and Timo Werner by pitching up on the right wing of their attack.
What Salah has said about Chelsea
Salah joined Chelsea back in the January transfer window of 2014.
However, he failed to live up to expectations at Stamford Bridge and ended up being sold to Roma.
And Salah, speaking in 2018, insisted he wasn’t given much of a chance during his spell in west London.
“I didn’t have my chance at Chelsea. It was clear I would return and show everyone my football,” he said.
“I think I left and came back a different person, man and player.”
