Chelsea transfer blow as Ziyech move to Saudi may be off due to Al-Nassr ‘issue’

Chelsea have suffered a transfer blow with Hakim Ziyech's move to Saudi Arabia likely off after he failed his Al-Nassr medical, according to reports.

Ziyech was set to be the fourth Blues star to head to the Middle East, following N'Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy. They've joined Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal and Ah-Ahli respectively.

Stamford Bridge chiefs have also shipped off Kai Havertz to Arsenal and Mateo Kovacic to Manchester City this month as part of a mass exodus before the Financial Fair Play year ends today (June 30) – totalling north of £100million in sales.

However, the additional £17m they were in line to bank from Ziyech's departure is now in serious doubt, as per Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna.

It emerged late on Thursday (June 29) that Al-Nassr identified a knee problem during his medical and weren't sure if they wanted to go through with the move anymore.

That'll be a major blow for Ziyech, who saw a loan switch to PSG also collapse back in the winter window. The Ligue 1 champions found the same issue as Al-Nassr during their medical examination of him.

They were keen to push on regardless, but an administrative issue on Chelsea's end just before the deadline meant the switch didn't materialise as planned.

Ziyech has never nailed down a spot in the starting XI since arriving from Ajax for £37m three years ago. The Morocco international has registered 14 goals and 13 assists in 107 appearances and is now aged 30.

While his move has stalled, Chelsea are set to bank £55m plus a potential £5m in add-ons from the sale of Mason Mount, after they finally reached an agreement with Manchester United for his sale.
