Chelsea have been warned that boss Graham Potter will “be bothered” by two of his players following the Blues’ 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Saturday. Jorginho got Chelsea’s goal from the penalty spot before Casemiro headed past Kepa Arrizabalaga to tie the game late on at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are unbeaten in Potter’s eight games in charge since he took over from Thomas Tuchel but there still have been question marks, particularly going forward, where the ex-Brighton man has rotated. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling led the line against United, but both players were substituted off with the game still in the balance.
Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino believes that Potter will have concerns over both Aubameyang and Sterling due to his forwards’ current lack of goals. “He is going to be bothered by the ability of his forward line to get goals,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.
“Aubameyang has not really got going, yes he has had his couple of moments. He was totally off the pace yesterday. Sterling is not playing particularly well, where he is running into defenders more often than not.

“Again these are top players, these are players that you expect so much more from. Apart from Mason Mount’s double last week at Villa Park, they don’t look like they have got goals in their side. They have lost Reece James, which is a big outlet on the right-hand side for them, but generally they don’t look [like] a side that’s going to have a load of goals in them.”
Chelsea have only failed to score once since Potter took charge, in the 0-0 draw away to Brentford on Wednesday, but the Englishman has shuffled his pack in regards to his forward line. Aubameyang and Sterling were restored to the starting lineup to face United after they were left out against Thomas Frank’s side.
Armando Broja was handed his first Chelsea start in west London with Kai Havertz and Mount but they failed to breach the Bees’ defence, while Aubameyang and Sterling were also left out in the 3-0 win over Wolves as Christian Pulisic joined Havertz in attack and the two incoming players both scored in that game.
Potter was known for rotating his side at Brighton, and Chelsea fans will have quickly got accustomed to his changes having also swapped systems several times to counter Erik ten Hag’s tactics, as he also substituted Marc Cucurella off after 35 minutes for Mateo Kovacic in order to move to a back four.
Potter explained his early substitution after the game. “The sense in the game was that we were getting a little bit overrun in midfield and we needed an extra player in there to create a bit more pressure and stop them building their attacks, and therefore making it harder for us to build ours,” Potter said. “It’s just a feeling I had. It wasn’t an easy decision to make at all but the boys responded really well and gave everything.”
