Chelsea ‘submit offer’ to Premier League rivals as Pochettino eyes eighth deal

Pochettino states aims for Chelsea after taking over as manager

Chelsea have reportedly launched an offer to sign Brighton’s out-of-favour goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. The Blues are set for a very busy end to the transfer market, with the club in the hunt for an authorative midfielder as well as a shot-stopper.

The Blues’ main target until the end of the transfer window remains Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, having already had three bids turned down by their Premier League rivals. Pochettino is desperate for a leader in the middle but knows he doesn’t have it easy as the Seagulls hold out for £100m+plus.

In the meantime, Chelsea have turned their attentions to Brighton keeper Robert Sanchez, having previously looked at David Raya before he became a surprise target of Arsenal’s.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have ‘sent a formal bid’ to Brighton for the Spanish shot-stopper, who played second fiddle under Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton after Jason Steele usurped him.

The report adds Sanchez has already accepted Chelsea as his next destination and a move appears very likelt with Brighton looking to offload him too. The goalkeeping department remains of big concern to Pochettino, so he will be desperate to get this over the line as quickly as possible.

With Edouard Mendy having joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli earlier this summer, it leaves Kepa Arrizabalaga without any real competition in between the posts. But the Spaniard continues to divide opinion and if Chelsea want to compete near the top of the Premier League again, the general consensus is they’ll need to replace him.
