Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi has admitted that there are ‘flaws’ which remain in his game and have halted his rapid burst on to the scene.

The mercurial winger made his breakthrough in January 2018 with his Chelsea debut, and was immediately backed for greatness amid endless speculation of German giants Bayern Munich being desperate to secure his services.

Hudson-Odoi remained at Chelsea and penned a lucrative contract extension running until the summer of 2024 to sit among the top earners at the club, but now the youngster admits he needs to do more.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has acknowledged flaws in his game which still need to be worked at

Speaking this week with Chelsea’s official website, the 20-year-old said: ‘Nobody is a perfect player. There are always flaws and you want to keep improving every day.

‘I want to keep working hard and learning every day. I want to keep educating myself whether it’s at home watching clips or just learning under the manager.

‘He knows what to do and he knows what is right for me and how to play so I want to keep learning under him and working hard.

The starlet is competing to become one of the first names on Frank Lampard’s team-sheet

‘Every time I get on the pitch or in training, I want to give my best every time. I want to give 110 per cent in the match.

‘I want to always make sure that I’m ready. The best way you train is the best way you play in a game.’

At the end of the 2020 summer transfer window it was revealed by Sportsmail that Chelsea had rejected a huge loan offer plus £70million purchase option from Bayern, as the German giants once again upped their interest.

It is understood the Bavarians have not completely given up on the idea of signing the winger, and are monitoring how much game time he is given following the arrival of Chelsea’s big summer signings.

Hudson-Odoi was among a number of players who shone in the FA Cup beating of Morecambe

Hudson-Odoi has featured 16 times so far this season for Frank Lampard’s side, as the manager continues to work out his best attacking set-up.

In the recent 4-0 FA Cup hammering of Morecambe, each of Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz got among the goals and took their opportunities on the pitch.

Hudson-Odoi now finds himself tasked with making himself a weekly Chelsea regular, with one eye on the senior England squad for next summer’s delayed European Championship.
