Chelsea will look to recoup between £26million and £30m for Christian Pulisic, according to reports. The Blues are claimed to be willing to sell the winger after his vital goal for the USA against Iran at the World Cup on Tuesday.

Pulisic scored the only goal of the game as USA beat Iran 1-0 in their final game of Group B in Qatar. Gregg Berhalter’s side have made it through to the round of 16, where they will play the Netherlands on Saturday.

The 24-year-old has only made three Premier League starts for Chelsea so far this season, and one in the Champions League. His contract at Stamford Bridge expires in just over 18 months’ time and speculation over a move away has started.

Juventus have been linked with Pulisic, as have Inter Milan. Italian outlet TuttoJuve claims Chelsea are thinking about selling the player.

The Blues want at least £26m to recoup some of the £57m they spent to sign Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund in January 2019. Chelsea believe they would have almost zero losses on Pulisic if they receive their desired amount.

However, the report says £26m-£30m is still too much for Juve to pay. The Serie A giants are in disarray after their entire board resigned earlier this week.

Pulisic has made 133 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, scoring 26 goals and registering 21 assists. However, it is clear he is not in Graham Potter’s preferred starting XI.

Speaking on American TV last month, Jamie Carragher insisted a departure from Chelsea would be good for Pulisic. He says the forward should follow in the footsteps of former team-mate Timo Werner, who left the Blues in search of regular first-team football.

Carragher told CBS Sports: “100 per cent [Pulisic should consider a smaller club]. A lot of footballers are different, I do scratch my head when I see certain players at clubs for a long time and they never really get into the team.

“And that’s why I think Thierry [Henry] is saying he respects Timo Werner. Rather than just sitting on the bench another year or two he’s gone back to somewhere where he’s going to play week in, week out.

“He’s been there a few years now, it hasn’t quite happened for him for whatever reason, and maybe Dortmund is a level down from Chelsea who are a team who are trying to win the Champions League – we know Pulisic was part of that win.

“But eventually you have to make that decision. I don’t think you can continue to be in that position that he’s been in for the last two or three years.”
