Chelsea have reached out to Juventus to discuss the potential availability of Dusan Vlahovic ahead of the upcoming January window, according to reports. The Blues were the Premier League’s biggest spenders over the summer and have been widely tipped to splash the cash once again in January in order to add some extra quality to their ranks before the mid-season window draws to a close.

Chelsea are thought to be on the lookout for a new striker to lead the line for the rest of the campaign, with Armando Broja out for the season after suffering a long-term injury earlier this month. It seems as though the Blues may have set their sights on Vlahovic, who has already been the subject of an enquiry from the west Londoners over the last few weeks, according to Ben Jacobs.

It is said that a January move elsewhere for Vlahovic could soon emerge as a real possibility, with the former Arsenal target having struggled to impress on a consistent basis since joining the Old Lady from Fiorentina earlier this year. He is believed to be valued at around £80million by Juventus, who have reportedly been contacted by several clubs including Chelsea regarding his immediate future ahead of next month.

“It’s actually Chelsea, from a Premier League point of view, making the inquiries at this point, and we know that they need a striker as well,” Jacobs told GiveMeSport. “But I think everybody chasing Vlahovic needs to understand, is January possible, first and foremost?

“And then if it isn’t, what do they need to do to persuade him to move to the Premier League in January? And what can clubs learn from the Arsenal situation? And also, what is his injury situation?

“Because right now, if you get him in January, he’s got a groin problem that is still under investigation. But Chelsea are looking a bit more seriously at him and obviously a number of other strikers because of the Armando Broja situation.”

Vlahovic established himself as one of Serie A’s leading marksmen during his time with Fiorentina, scoring 49 goals and registering eight assists in 108 appearances across all competitions before joining Juventus. However, he has failed to hit the heights of old during his time at the Allianz Stadium, leading to suggestions that he could move on to pastures new when the transfer window finally reopens next month.

The Serbian forward remains tied down to Juventus until the summer of 2026 as things stand and it is said that a January move remains unlikely at this stage, although an exit before the end of next month cannot be entirely ruled out. Only time will tell if Chelsea manage to bring Vlahovic to Stamford Bridge at some point in the near future, with several other clubs including Arsenal and Manchester United said to be keeping a close eye on the 22-year-old’s situation.
