Chelsea flop Danny Drinkwater deletes photo celebrating after Frank Lampard sacking

Chelsea: Tuchel reportedly eyed as replacement for Lampard

Danny Drinkwater has been forced to post a statement on his Instagram page after posting a photo of him celebrating just minutes after news broke that Frank Lampard is set to be sacked by Chelsea. Drinkwater has failed to feature under Lampard and it appeared as though Drinkwater may have been delighted at the news of Lampard’s impending sacking.

He posted a photo of himself celebrating during his days at Leicester but was quickly forced to delete it after an angry backlash from fans.

Drinkwater claims that his initial post had nothing to do with the news regarding Lampard.

“Thought that was a bit of a strange reaction,” he wrote on his Instagram story.

“Didn’t hear about the news before I posted that.

“I was just missing playing. The manager was somebody I looked up to hugely as a player.”

But Drinkwater’s initial post drew the anger from the Chelsea fanbase, with some calling for his contract to be cancelled immediately.

One angry Chelsea fan wrote: “Drinkwater acting as if Lamps was the problem.”

Another posted: “Almost forgot Drinkwater still players for Chelsea.”

A third tweeted: “Danny Drinkwater can f*** off.”

Another said: “Danny Drinkwater needs his contract cancelled.”
