Chelsea boss Tuchel is not immune from the sack warns Trevor Sinclair

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is not immune from the SACK if his side’s poor run continues, warns former England ace Trevor Sinclair after European champions’ recent dip in form

  • Chelsea have dropped five points from three games with two draws and a loss
  • The Blues were three points clear at the top but have now slipped to third
  • Chelsea have suffered a series of injuries, including midfielder N’Golo Kante
  • Trevor Sinclair warned their form must improve or Thomas Tuchel faces the sack

Trevor Sinclair has warned Thomas Tuchel if Chelsea’s form does not improve he will not be safe from Roman Abramovich’s axe.

Chelsea headed into November three points clear at the top of the Premier League but a recent poor run in form has seen them dethroned by Manchester City.

The Blues have dropped five points from three games as they drew against Burnley and Manchester United and suffer a 3-2 defeat to West Ham.

Former England international Sinclair praised Tuchel’s work at the club but insisted Chelsea’s results must improve or the boss faces the same path as Frank Lampard, who was axed after a poor run.

‘I think it’s to be expected,’ Sinclair said on talkSPORT.

‘Thomas Tuchel has done superbly since he joined Chelsea, winning the Champions League, you look at the way he’s recruited by buying a top striker in Romelu Lukaku.

‘He’s not getting the best out of Lukaku at the moment, but in general with the team Frank Lampard built, he’s organised them, he’s made them difficult to beat and they’ve gone on a run where they’ve been unbelievable.

Sinclair claimed the German boss is not getting the best out of signing Romelu Lukaku (R)

‘But they’re human, they’re always going to have a bit of a blip. He wants better in the basics, and the mentality from the players, and I’m sure they’ll get over it.

‘However, you know what Chelsea are like, their footballing model is if the manager is not doing it, get shot and start again.’

Chelsea have been decimated by injuries in recent weeks with Trevoh Chalobah, N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell all sidelined, while Matteo Kovacic tested positive for Covid.

Lukaku also faced a spell on the sidelines, missing six games in all competitions after limping off in the first-half of Chelsea’s convincing 4-0 win over Malmo in October.

But the Belgian has only bagged one goal for the Blues since mid-September, despite a strong start to the season.

Tuchel will be hoping his side can rediscover their former as they welcome Leeds United on Saturday.
