Chelsea have dropped Tammy Abraham from the squad for today’s FA Cup clash with Manchester City at Wembley. The England international has struggled for consistency ever since Thomas Tuchel’s appointment as manager. And, now, a move away could beckon.

According to The Athletic, Tuchel has decided to leave Abraham out of his squad.

The England international was a regular during Frank Lampard’s spell in charge but, since the 42-year-old’s departure, has struggled for game time.

Abraham hasn’t been played by Chelsea since the 1-1 draw with Southampton back in February and, now, his time under Tuchel has stopped to a new low.

It’s now claimed his future at the club is in ‘serious doubt’.

And it’s also unlikely Abraham will be picked by Gareth Southgate for the upcoming European Championships this summer.

Abraham is said to be fully fit.

And it’s simply down to Tuchel that he’s been snubbed, despite the German defending the Blues’ No 9 when speaking last week.

“Tammy had a bit of a rough time,” he said.

“He was twice substituted for tactical reasons at half-time. He could not have the impact he demands from himself and we wish from him.”

Tuchel also thinks Abraham has plenty of talent, but did refuse to acknowledge his achievement of being the club’s top scorer in the Premier League this season with six goals.

“I don’t think he’s the top scorer since I arrived,” he added.

“I can only judge what I see. I saw a bright young man in front of me. I saw a guy who is self-confident, who has a lot of talent.

“But it cannot be that in a period of such good results that suddenly the guys who don’t play are the winners.

“This is not logical to me. He was for some weeks not available, so is it now the moment to do crazy stuff and try things? If you just look at the data, you will say: ‘OK, he’s the top scorer.’

“If you look at the data since we are here, it will maybe tell you a different story.”

Abraham’s current deal at Chelsea expires in 2023.

But with the player appearing to be down in Tuchel’s planning, a summer exit could be on the cards.

Meanwhile, Tuchel has vowed to try and hunt down City next season.

“We have to accept that there is a gap between us and Manchester City,” he said.

“If you look at the fixture in the Premier League and the fixtures in the last years we have to accept this. And it’s important that we accept this without making ourselves too small.”

“So from next year on, from day one of next season we will hunt them, we will try to close the gap between us,” he then added.

“And this the benchmark. For me in Europe there are two teams who are the benchmark, there is Bayern Munich and Manchester City.”
