Chelsea bidder with net worth 4x Abramovich’s flies to London for takeover talks

American billionaire Ken Griffin, who is supporting the Ricketts Family’s bid to take over Chelsea, is believed to have a net worth four times greater Roman Abramovich.

Despite recent fan protests, the Ricketts’ family are still understood to be the frontrunners in the race to purchase the Champions League holders. The Chicago Cubs Baseball team owners are competing against bids led by Todd Boehly, Sir Martin Broughton and Stephen Pagliuka.

The bidders will all be presenting their plans in front of the Premier League giant’s directors Eguene Tenenbaum and Marina Granovskaia, as well as chairman Bruce Buck. But in a frightening insight into the financial wealth of their next potential owners, Griffin, who has flown into London for takeover talks, reportedly makes Abramovich “look relatively poor” in comparison.

All bidders have been given until April 11 to present their final detailed plans to takeover the club. It’s understood Griffin would become the majority shareholder of the Blues if the Ricketts’ family were handed over the keys to the European champions.

According to Forbes, Griffin is worth a whopping £21billion, and is the 53rd richest person in the world. His gargantuan net worth absolutely dwarfs that of Abramovich. The Russian oligarch is worth £6.35bn in comparison.
