Chelsea and Tottenham contact Inter Milan as Onana bidding war brews
Lampard breaks silence on Chelsea's Pochettino links
Chelsea and Tottenham have reportedly made contact with Inter Milan about Andre Onana in the hope of acquiring his services this summer. The Serie A side are said to be keen to offload the 27-year-old at the end of the season in order to raise funds to balance the books and acquire new signings.
Despite being without a manager as it stands, with the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino looming, Chelsea are already plotting a busy transfer window. Signing a top striker is high on the ‘to-do’ list for Todd Boehly, as well as bringing in a top-quality goalkeeper.
According to 90min, the Blues have made contact with Inter and registered their interest in signing Onana. The Cameroonian shot-stopper is said to have been ‘transfer listed’ by the Italian side and deemed the ideal candidate to be sold for a significant fee.
Tottenham are also keen on Onana and have identified the former Ajax goalkeeper as the ideal candidate to succeed club captain Hugo Lloris in north London, with a replacement for the France international a top priority regardless of who succeeds Antonio Conte permanently at the club.

Spurs are also keen on Everton’s Jordan Pickford and Brentford shot-stopper David Raya, with the latter expected to be on the move this summer after rejecting several contract extension offers from Thomas Frank’s side.
However, Tottenham have also been in contact with Inter about Onana which may suggest that they are prioritising his pursuit rather than recruiting from within the Premier League as it is likely that he would not come at a significant cost.
A bidding war therefore may be on the horizon between the two London-based clubs, with Manchester United also lurking in the goalkeeper market with the intention of signing cover for David De Gea. Though Chelsea could hold the advantage in negotiating with Inter as they are said to be open to including Kepa Arrizabalaga or Edouard Mendy in the deal so that I Nerazzurri do not need to use their newfound funds on signing a new No 1.
It remains to be seen whether new managers for Chelsea and Spurs arrive with their own shortlist of candidates between the sticks, or if soon-to-be Blues boss Pochettino will provide a hammer blow to his former side by green-lighting a move for Onana at their expense, with negotiations with the Argentine expected to conclude by the end of the week.
