Chelsea and Man Utd on red alert as Real Madrid slap £35m transfer price tag on flop
Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly shown interest in Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic as they target alternatives to Harry Kane and Erling Haaland. La Liga giants Madrid have slapped a £35million price tag on Jovic as they look to sell him in the summer transfer window.
Madrid signed Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt for £56m in the summer of 2019 after he fired 17 Bundesliga goals the previous season.
But he scored just twice in 17 appearances in his first La Liga campaign, and played only five times for Madrid last term amid tough competition for a place in the Los Blancos attack.
The 23-year-old was loaned back to Frankfurt in January, and has been linked with a permanent return to the German club – although to finance a move they may have to sell Andre Silva, who has been linked with Arsenal.
And Premier League rivals Chelsea and United could now join the race for Jovic, according to reports from Spain.

Both clubs have shown an interest in the centre-forward, although Madrid have yet to receive a concrete offer, AS claims.
The report says Madrid would acept £35m for Jovic, who scored three goals in his first three appearances from the bench on his return to Frankfurt, before hitting another drought.
United and Chelsea are both in the market for a striker this summer and have been linked with moves for Kane and Haaland.
But Manchester City are the favourites to sign Kane, while Borussia Dortmund have insisted that Haaland won’t leave the club this summer.
So both teams may have to look at alternatives – and Jovic would come much cheaper than either of their top two targets.
Whether they are prepared to meet Madrid’s price tag remains to be seen, given the striker’s struggles since moving to Spain.
The hope at the Bernabeu is that clubs will see the potential in Jovic to recapture his goalscoring form from his first couple of seasons in the Bundesliga.
Jovic has scored 40 goals in 93 games over his two spells with Frankfurt, having previously played for Red Star Belgrade and Benfica.
