Casemiro wastes no time getting stuck in at Manchester United following £70m switch from Real Madrid… as the club post a video of his first training session at Carrington on Thursday

  • Casemiro took part in his first full training session at Manchester United today 
  • He told the club in his first official interview that he was raring to go for the team
  • The 30-year-old arrived at Old Trafford earlier this week after a £70million move 
  • In nine years at Real Madrid the Brazilian won a total of 18 titles and trophies

New Manchester United signing Casemiro has taken part in his first training session at the club, following his £70million arrival from Real Madrid.

A video posted by United shows the Brazilian midfielder alongside team-mates Donny van de Beek, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane, under the watchful eye of Erik ten Hag. 

Casemiro, 30, also gave his first interview as a Red Devil earlier on Thursday, revealing that he is ready to get stuck in at his new club, having said goodbye to the Spanish earlier this week.

Casemiro spoke earlier on Thursday of his ambitions to get stuck in at Manchester United

In a video tweeted by Manchester United, Casemiro can be seen being put through his paces at the club’s Carrington training facility. 

The Brazilian begins by warming up and running sprints alongside United outcast van de Beek, before taking part in a passing drill with former Los Blancos team-mates Varane and Ronaldo. 

He can even be seen nutmegging the French centre-back – something which he will not be thanked for.

In his first official interview with the club earlier on Thursday, Casemiro spoke in depth about the prospect of joining up with his new team-mates, one of whom he is used to controlling the middle of the park alongside on the national team. 

The Brazil internationalsa fellow midfielder Fred: ‘He’s a great player and that’s why he plays for Manchester United and for the Brazilian national team, which is difficult to get into. So, I have a special relationship with him and of course he’s a great player.

‘I think he’s a player that has good movement. He’s very mobile, passes the ball well, he has a good shot on him, he can play with both feet, left or right, he can pass the ball well with either foot. He’s a great player.

He claimed it was his ambition to win trophies at United – who are the ‘biggest club in England’

Casemiro was full of praise for national team-mate Fred and was excited to play alongside him

‘I think he’ll help me a lot at the club and without doubt it’s important for me to have another Brazilian here, too.’

The 30-year-old also spared a word for Ronaldo and Varane, with whom he won four of his five Champions League titles.  

He added: ‘He [Raphael Varane] tells me he’s happy. His family is very happy here in Manchester and I feel Manchester United have a great centre-back in him and, as we know, Cristiano is up there as one of the best players in the history of football and I think he’ll keep achieving things.’
